4/12/19

Estimated 6-foot, 170-pound athletic frame. The right-hander throws from a high ¾ slot with a long arm swing and repeatable delivery. His fastball was 88-89 mph early on and settled in at 86-87 mph later on. His commanded the fastball to both sides of the plate and flashing a cutter to both sides of the plate. His also threw two breaking balls. Threw a big curveball that was 69-71 mph consistently landing it in the zone and threw a slider that was 83-84 mph and threw it for swing and miss outside the zone.

Hamilton took the ball in game one for the Twelve, and really set the tone. He looks much more physical than his listed 6-foot, 160-pound frame, and features natural strength throughout including the lower-half as well as having broad shoulders. Utilizing a simple, well-paced delivery, Hamilton works linear down the mound releasing out of a high ¾ slot. His fastball ran up to 87 mph, working mostly 84-86, and he controlled it to both sides of the plate as well as elevating late in counts. He had a plan of attack for each hitter, and showed feel for disrupting timing as he was able to drop in his breaking ball early in counts for strikes. The pitch took more 11/5 shape when thrown early, and he was able to procure more of a darting slider late in counts for swings and misses. It worked 70-73, and will have a chance to be a swing and miss offering in the future. Hamilton’s durable frame combined with a quick, strong right arm will likely carry him to becoming one of the better right-handers in Texas’ 2021 class.
