06.26.17 - 6-1/186. High slot, quick arm with some effort. FB 88-91, 74-78 SL. + CH 79-80.

2/16/2020

Estimated 6-foot-1, 190 pounds. The right-hander throws from a slot with a long arm swing. His fastball sat 93-95 mph, flashing command. He also threw an 81-82 mph curveball with good command and 11/5 shape.

2/8/20: Pitched one scoreless inning of relief against Chipola on Saturday evening allowing no hits and walking one. Got off-line with his delivery at times, but when it was right, Jones was downhill with lower effort and good arm speed. He sat 91-92 mph with his fastball, while mixing in a below average slider at 79-80 mph and 84 mph changeup. His best offspeed pitch was an 83-85 mph cutter. A red-shirt freshman, Jones is uncommitted.

10/14/19: Physical, long armed athletic RHP. Has been up to 96 with his fastball and also has two distinct different breaking balls that are both swing and miss pitches presently. Delivery is has natural athletic actions throughout his delivery with an effortless loose arm. Jones was a 28th Round pick by the Phillies out of high school as well as a 31st Round pick by the Brewers last year. (Haig)

11/1/18: With an athletic delivery, Jones attacked Texas with a lively fastball up to 93 MPH, and generated some very uncomfortable swings with two different breaking balls – a slider with late, sweeping break around 84 MPH and a deceptive curveball that sat between 76-80 MPH. At times, the breaking balls blended together, but the result was often the same – an uncomfortable take or hack in the batter’s box. Jones’s arm action might cause some scouts to pause, but the arm worked quickly and well out in front. Combine that with the athleticism to repeat, and Jones will be one to watch.
