3/28/18 - 5’11/190, L/L, Junior. Strength throughout his frame packed with quick twitch athleticism. Walker consistently showed plus bat speed in this one with a middle of the field approach while being selective at the dish.  Though he posted four hits in his six at-bats, only his first single to center was barreled up. The other three hits were a result of strength and speed as he flared an RBI single into the outfield and earned two infield hits up the middle, running a 4.19 down the line for his last hit of the day. Walker only had one chance to show off what looks to be a near average arm in the outfield, delivering the ball to third with some carry and accuracy to hold a runner at second. Walker was a fun player to watch as he showed supreme confidence and energy all night.

2/22/18 - 5’11/190, L/L, Junior. Showed why he is one of the best pure college hitters in this year’s draft. Selective, aggressive approach with a quiet setup at the plate. Consistently generated above average bat speed while also taking a few man-hacks which showed plus bat speed. Had more lift in his swing and extended earlier than this past summer in the Cape Cod League and for the USA Collegiate National Team. As a result, he was more pull dominant this weekend with Virginia Tech even putting the shift on him during Sunday’s game. Showed a below average to fringe arm and average range in center field, running fair routes with some hesitation and jaggedness at times. Despite that, he was generally waiting in the right spot for the ball to come down and it landed softly in his mitt. Overall, he looks to be at least a future average defender in the OF. In all likelihood, he will need a move to LF in professional baseball to have an everyday role. His speed and range are short for a ML centerfielder, while his arm strength is less than desirable for right field. He hustled and played hard, answering some scout’s doubts as to his energy for the game. Overall, Walker had a very solid start to his season. His tools and projection don’t overly excite, but he is a college performer and a low risk draft pick. There isn’t a guarantee that anyone will hit in professional baseball, but Walker has a better chance than most. He remains a bottom of the first round to supplemental type of draft pick.
