Talbert, who recently committed to Dallas Baptist, is a strong, confident, athletic two-way player with tons of upside. Although he is listed at 6-foot, 170-pounds, he is likely not done maturing physically with his high waist and young face. After running a 6.87 60-yard dash, the right-handed hitter took an outstanding round of BP, showing loose hands with good extension through contact as he laced balls through the middle of the field with an exit velocity of 87 mph. He starts from a fairly neutral stance with a wide base and slight crouch in his upper body, then loads back easy as he triggers his hands and takes a short stride, staying grounded in his legs with good separation. His lower half works efficiently, creating significant leverage as he transfers his weight and he gets the barrel on plane, working slightly uphill to contact.
Talbert moves with easy actions at shortstop and has plenty of arm strength to stay on the left side of the field (91 mph), but its the footwork and posture as he plays through the ball that suggest he has a future on the infield. His arm works from different slots and he can play on the run. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Talbert has a fast arm stroke from a high-¾ slot. Tall-and-fall delivery that he repeats with relative ease. His fastball was mostly 87-88 from the stretch, dropping down to 85-87 from the stretch. Hitters struggled to pick the fastball up out of his hand, as the ball got on top of them quickly. Slider played enough to get some weak contact with more lateral 10/4 shape at 68 mph.

Athletic build with strength at 6-foot, 165 pounds with a projectable frame. Talbert has a well-rounded skill set. He flashed arm strength from the field (90 mph from shortstop, 91 mph from right field) and had athletic and fluid actions in both places. In the infield, his feet are constantly moving to put himself in positions to play into hops, and he works through the ball fielding inside his left leg and generates momentum and direction to first base. He is able to show off his arm, and have a quick release because of his fundamental footwork. He also has soft hands in the infield with some swagger in his actions, and made a nice sliding play deep in the hole at short. At the plate, he stays behind the ball well with his body to create space for his barrel to work, and to work slightly uphill through the baseball. With good intent in his swing, quick twitch barrel actions, and using his explosive backside drive he made loud contact throughout batting practice; 85 mph exit velo off a tee. Talbert ran a 7.02 laser-timed 60. Off the mound, he flashed a live arm with his fastball sitting 85-87 with late arm-side-run and a short and quick arm action. His curveball had a 10/4 shape and was 65-66 mph. His changeup was in the range of 75-81. Talbert has the tool set to be a stud, and it will be exciting watching this projectable young man continue to develop.

Talbert stands 6-foot, 160-pounds with a long-limbed, lean-strong, high-waisted frame. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly wide base with his hands in a relaxed position around his letters. Relaxed, smooth load as he pushes back, keeping his front foot low as his hands trigger back and up. Strides forward as he transfers his weight with rhythm, back foots gains the same amount of ground as his stride foot. Loose hands with an uphill bat, strong top hand, line drive power with a middle of the field approach. Although his exit velocity was only 76 mph (off the tee), he showed some carry in the gaps during batting practice. Talbert has a strong arm across the diamond (86 mph) with a quick ¾ arm stroke. He has quickish footwork, soft hands out front, clean transfer, and works with good glove action to his back hand side. During the game, he made a quality play on a run through ball at third base to get the runner at first. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash.
