Smith is a compact strong looking chiseled build for a 15 yr old and has a strong quick lower 1/2 that clocked a 6.72 at the event with even more speed to develop as he matures and fills out. The arm defensively showed a LTQ slot with a tweak needed to get his arm slot and elbow higher to get additional carry and online accuracy to play. The arm strength of 76 is about where he needs to be for his age and look for it to tick up into the mid 80’s over the next couple of years. The bat shows above avg hand speed for his age and lacks the snap needed through the zone, but see improvements there as well. He is online with a flatter and slightly lifted approach through the ball, just needs added strength. There is some laying the bat open in his load and needs to turn the knob and get to a 45 degree launch. As of now the load creates a sweep on approach to the baseball. A couple of tweaks here and there, and he should take off and project further. Nice athletic build with lower 1/2 twitch and solid avg foot speed, which can’t be taught.
