Clarke is an Alabama commit. He has a tall lanky frame with long limbs and projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, longer, loose very quick arm action with high effort to his delivery. Crossfire delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, swings late into an open landing but is closed off during most of his delivery, hides ball well until release. Fastball was 87-92, touching 93 twice and 94 once with some late armside run. Was in the 90-92 range with those tops against the first few hitters, then settled into 87-89, touching 90 to the last few hitters he faced, where he showed a bit more control of his pitches. Slider was 74-79 with good armspeed and hard power 1/7 break. Pitch was swing and miss pretty much any time he threw it, buries it below the zone well and draws swings. Struggled with control and didn't get ahead of many hitters early in his inning, limiting ability to throw slider early in his outing.

Clarke has a lankier athletic frame with some strength present and a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter loose very quick arm action and higher effort to his delivery. Some crossfire in his delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed before swinging into an open landing. Fastball was 92-96, touching 97 twice in his first inning of work. Velocity was 90-93, touching 95 in his second inning. Fastball had some late hard armside run and a tough angle from his low arm slot with his long limbs. Breaking ball was 76-86, armspeed varied on the pitch, but at its best it is swing and miss with sharp hard 2/8 break to it. Threw one change at 89. Struck out first two hitters after being behind in the count against both. Got ahead of third hitter, Casey Cook (North Carolina), who was able to fight off some good pitches from Clarke and work a walk in an at-bat that last more than 10 pitches. Clarke got a ground out to end the first but was clearly gassed at that point in his first game outing in over 16 months. He walked 2 of the 3 hitters he faced in the second inning before exiting the game at his pitch count. He finished the day with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in 1.1 innings of work. Overall, he controlled his breaking ball the best, fastball control was inconsistent, he had a few get away from him but was around the zone with rest and got squeezed a bit on the edges. Overall, it was a decent outing for what is likely Clarke's first game action in over 16 months, we are looking forward to a lot more looks at him this spring.
