Phillips is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, big leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, goes straight to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, has some strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a good approach working middle of the field, gap power present in the alleys, exit velocity was 92. In the infield, gets body behind the ball and fields with average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 77. On the mound, he throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long free arm action and some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 75-78, touching 79, with some heavy boring action to armside that gets some late depth. Curveball was 69-71 with good armspeed and late gradual 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 71-72 with good armspeed and hard armside run with some sink. Slider was 68-71 with good armspeed and late gradual 10/4 break to it.
