Grizzard has an athletic frame that has added some really nice strength to it since we saw him last. He pitched on Thursday and was the designated hitter in this game on Friday. Athletic on line stance with hands relaxed and load in rhythm. Loft built in and uses leverage in the swing to produce power to all fields. Hit a double off the right field fence in this one. Like the offensive upside and the energy that Grizzard brings to the game. 

VA/DC State Games

Grizzard is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open more relaxed balanced stance, strides on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, strong at contact with extension through the ball, showed a primarily pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, power present to pull side with potential to grow into a lot more power, exit velocity was 89. Ran a 7.45 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action and easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with a hard fall off finish. Fastball was 81-83, with some late hard armside run with a bit of depth. Curveball had good armspeed and was 66-70 with sharp 1/7 break to it.

VA/DC Committed Combine

Grizzard is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, uphill swing path, showed a pull approach with some power present and the chance to add more, strength at contact, exit velocity was 95. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 84. Ran a 7.37 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 83-85, with some late armside run. Curveball had good armspeed and was 71-74 with sharp 1/7 break to it and good shape, flashes swing and miss. Change-up was 79-80 had good armspeed and heavy armside run with some depth to it.

Swing generates line drives with some carry, gap power is already present, showed a slight pull preference, exit velocity was 90. In the outfield, rounds ball and fields with above average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action, outfield velocity was 83. Also showed versatility taking balls in the infield, where his velocity was 79. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short loose quick arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands square with a fall off finish. Fastball 75-77, touching 79 with some late run to armside. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and late hard 1/7 break. Showed ability to back foot curve to righties.

Preseason All-State II

Grizzard is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a more upright and leaned back athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back, hips rotate completely with violence, has good balance during his swing. Keeps hands inside ball, short and quick to ball with extension through it, fast bat, slightly uphill lefty pull power swing, preferred to turn on ball but used who field, swing has loft and creates carry in the gaps, has doubles power already, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, rounds ball and fields with above average hands. Works through ball, clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, loose arm action, position velocity was 82. Ran a 4.44 home to first. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot with short loose arm action that is very quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands on line with a bit of a fall off. Fastball was 76-79, touching 80, with late sink to glove side and also a bit of run when armside. Curveball was 66-68 with sharp 2/8 break and good armspeed. Change-up was 73-75 with good armspeed and heavy sink, almost splitter action with its sharpness. Good three pitch combo, curve and change-up have chance to be swing and miss pitches.
