Coppedge stands around 6-foot-1 with an athletic frame. Coppedge has put on some good weight and looks stronger than he did last year. Have previously seen him primarily at shortstop, where he does a solid job defensively, but today he played third base. Coppedge looked really comfortable at third. Works low and has a quick reaction with nice lateral range and a solid first step. Nice fluid defensive movements with a strong short arm action and is accurate on throws. Hits from the right side with an open upright stance and hands relaxed. Leg lift and loads into backside before striding forward landing on line. Flashes some pull side power at times just want to see more consistency at the plate.
9.16.17: Coppedge has an athletic projectable frame that is mature for his age. At short, clean actions and quick feet, fields with soft hands, strong arm with loose arm action. At plate, hits from open athletic stance with a leg kick stride on line, short load back and good rhythm. Explosive lower half and good balance to swing. Quick bat short to ball with good extension through it and batspeed, plenty of power potential to grow into. Line drive hitter, uses whole field. Ran a 4.39 home to first.
