VA/DC Scout Blog

Athletic 6-foot-1 frame with projection left to it. Athletic delivery, repeats it well, and stays in line to the plate. Shorter arm swing from a three-quarter arm slot. Shows a fastball and breaking ball mix, as his two primary pitches. The fastball was 79-80 and topped at 81 mph twice during his early innings. The fastball was more control than command. The breaking ball was late 12/6 shape with some depth to it. The breaking ball stayed between 69-71 mph with average feel for the strike zone. After Beale settled into his outing he showed some swing and miss stuff, especially with the breaking ball. Will be interesting to see how the velocity trends over the summer, as the breaking ball has a chance to be a nice complimentary out pitch.
