Pearson's mechanics looked pretty much the same as they did a month ago. He had a few times where he got disconnected and started missing up. Did a good job of battling through those spots to minimize damage and find command. Lanky frame with a lot of projection left and an arm with a very high ceiling. As he continues to develop more consistency with his mechanics and adds strength, has a chance to see a significant velocity jump at some point. On this day, worked 82-85 for all six innings with some late run to it. Gave up some velocity when he was in slide step, working at 80. Had one time when everything clicked and he got an easy 87. Showed his change-up more in this outing, pitch has some armspeed and good sink to it at 74-77. Curveball has sharp 11/5 break, swing and miss pitch with a lot of depth when he gets it down, at the top of the zone has more slider action, pitch was 67-74. Going to be a very intriguing prospect to check in on later this summer and in the fall.

Pearson has a tall athletic frame with plenty of projection left. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter, free arm action that has some quickness to it and some effort. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish, crossfire delivery. Fastball had a tough angle with his slot and delivery, sitting 79-83, touching 84. Pitch had some run to it and he held his velocity, still sitting 81-83 in the fourth inning. Sharp curveball had two shapes, 12/6 and 11/5 depending on if he was getting it over or burying it. Showed good feel of the pitch and used it a lot, it ran 67-72 and is a swing and miss pitch with good armspeed. Showed the ability to backfoot his curve to lefthanded hitters. Didn't use change-up much. Arm action and frame suggest more velocity is in the tank and he can already spin a good breaking ball, Pearson will be a 2019 to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.

Curveball had late sharp 11/5 break and was 65-68 with some armspeed. Change-up was 65-69 with some armspeed and fade. At the plate hits from an open stance, short stride on line, smooth load back, good rhythm. Hips show some explosion and good balance to swing. Short level swing with a good approach working the middle of the field, exit velocity was 86. At first, gets behind ball and fields with a wide base, average hands.
