As good as Gatwood’s raw stuff was on Thursday, he did find some barrels. 1B/C Mitch Wilson(Dorman HS, SC; North Carolina) and SS Lee Sowers (Douglass Southall, VA; Virginia Tech) went for back-to-back jacks in the third inning for the Athletics. Wilson’s 100 mph EV blast easily cleared the left field wall, traveling 401 feet; Sowers’ 99 mph EV big fly traveled 390 feet to right field.
