Hoyes is 5-11 with a very lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, two step low leg kick stride on line, short smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, goes straight to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, strong position at contact and he gets some extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, chance to grow into some gap power as he gets stronger, exit velocity was 80. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 80. Ran a 7.57 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78, touching 79, with some late armside run to it. Showed a curveball in warmups with some armspeed and hard 11/5 break to it that was sharper when down, pitch has a chance as it tightens.
