Neal has a lankier frame with some projection left. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with some effort. Fastball had heavy late run to it. In the first, he sat 89-91, touched 92 three times. He held his velocity in the stretch, sitting 87-89, touching 90. In the third inning his fastball had settled in at 87-89, and he was still holding that in the fifth inning. Curveball has sharp 11/5 break, slowed his arm a bit, needs to throw it harder, but shape is good and it has potential. Pitch ran 70-74. Neal is an athlete, went to shortstop after exiting the game, made a diving play up the middle, also showed some batspeed at the plate and some barrel awareness, squaring the ball up in all of his at-bats.

Though a smaller frame, Neal bring a big punch to his game. That was most noticeable on the mound where his quick arm had him sitting 88 on the day. Pitching with regular effort, Neal showed fast arm speed with his long and loose arm action throwing from a high three quarter slot. The breaking ball showed nice 11/5 action on the pitch and he also threw a later action cutter. It's easy to see that this young man was hitting low 90's in the fall and as he adds to his frame could be an impressive arm.
7.15.17: Neal is short with an athletic frame, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is lightning quick and a little more than normal effort. Shoulders are closed and level, athletic finish. Fastball sat 88-90 with late run in a short relief appearance. Showed one curveball with hard 11/5 break and some armspeed at 75.
