7/31/14 - 6-foot-3, 185 pound, LHP has an athletic frame. He throws from a low three-quarters slot and is max effort with a choppy rhythm. Volz threw a heavy fastball that sat 77-81 and touched 83. His arm slot helps him generate heavy run on his fastball. Volz also threw a cutter that ran 69-72 that could turn into a plus slider. He slowed his arm a bit on his change-up, but it ran 68-69 with a lot of late fade to it. Volz commanded all of his pitches very well.
