8.30.15:  Herbert has a tall, lanky frame that makes him tough for hitters to pick up because he is releasing the ball right on top of them. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action. His fastball sat 78-80, touching 82, and it ran or cut depending on which side of the plate he threw it to. He showed no fear attacking inside and did it routinely. He also threw a sharp downer curveball with decent armspeed that ran 65-67.
6.23.15 Hit from a tall and narrow stance.  Slight load back.  Took a long stride and  utilized a leg kick. Had a very good lower half. Stance was wide at times. Exit velocity is not indicative of power potential. Lofts the ball very well. Gap-to-gap stroke with extension. In the field, he threw from a loose high ¾ arm slot. Had good accuracy and a Positional Velocity of 77 mph.  Throws were crisp.  Hands were above average with clean exchanges.  Footwork was clean, but lacked fluidity.  On the mound, Herbert is a bit lanky and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot and has a tall and fall delivery. His arm action is long and wraps behind him before a very quick armstroke that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill and on line as he strides out to a square landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Herbert’s fastball had slight run when it was thrown to his armside, sitting 80-82. He threw a gradual breaking 11/5 curveball that ran 61-67. His changeup was thrown from a lower slot with good armspeed and had armside run to it, sitting 72-74.

2.22.15 Herbert stands 6-foot-3 and has an athletic frame. He has some rhythm to his drop and drive delivery and throws from a high three-quarters slot. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick armstroke that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill as he strides out online before landing open and falling off as he finishes. Herbert’s fastball sat 79-82, touching 83, and had some run to it when it was down in the zone. His curveball had gradual 11/5 action and was thrown with decent armspeed, running 62-65. He threw a good change-up with full armspeed and it had armside run to it, sitting 71-74.  Hit from a tall and narrow stance.  Slight load back with an arm bar.  Leg kick stride that stayed on line and balanced.  Showed good bat speed with an Exit Velocity of 90 mph.  Swing path was level through the zone.  Stroke should result in line drives with gap to gap power.  In the field, he threw from a loose high ¾ arm slot. Had good accuracy with a Positional Velocity of 82 mph.  Throws had some carry.  Hands were somewhat soft with clean exchanges.  Footwork was clean, but lacked fluidity.
