Robinson

Listed at an XL 6-foot-5, 215-pounds, 1B Aren Robinson (Brookfield Central, 2024) is one of the state’s most physically intriguing prospects, and over the course of the last year or so we have started to see him harness his inherent strength in the right-handed box. Starting tall at the plate, Robinson loads in rhythm and utilizes his strong hands to create easy bat speed. During his round of BP, Robinson showed off gap-to-gap juice, producing exit velocities up to 95.5 mph and his furthest ball of the day traveled an estimated 374 feet, which was an event high. Despite his large stature, Robinson is an athletic defender around the first-base bag, and he has consistently shown to be a lockdown defender there, too. During the live gameplay, Robinson continued his standout day as he tallied a pair of hits to drive in one run, and he also made a slick diving play to get an out at first base as well. Overall, Robinson provided an impressive look during Tuesday’s showcase and asserted himself even more as an uncommitted name-to-know heading into his senior year.

Defense: Two hand gather, soft hands, clean feet, athletic around bag with feel for position.

Robinson is a high ceiling prospect who remains uncommitted but continues to impress our staff with his toolset and skill level. Robinson stands an imposing 6-foot-5, 215 pounds with present strength throughout. He hammered balls during the batting practice portion of the event showing hitability and impressive raw power. Robinson hits with a balanced, short quick swing, and averaged an impressive 88 mph exit velocity and maxed out at 95 mph. On defense, Robinson impresses with his smooth actions and soft hands. He has enough arm to play the hot corner at 83 mph with accuracy.

Robinson is an XL 6-foot-4, 200-pound athlete that just came off of a foot injury to join Team Wisconsin in Georgia this week at the Future Games. Put on one of the best shows from Team Wisconsin during the BP session of the day, as it looked like he hadn't missed a beat. Brought a clean, effortless swing and bat path to his round, using his strength to elevate and drive the baseball. Maxed out at 98 mph from an exit velo standpoint, and showed quality pull-side power with six hits of 300+ feet. Robinson will be one of Team Wisconsin’s bats to watch for during the rest of the week. 

Perhaps the most interesting update on Robinson was the improvements he made defensively. He’s currently moving well on the infield and he surprisingly syncs his feet and arm action consistently, given his size. His arm action is clean with carries out of a natural ¾ slot, and he picks balls well with the pocket. At the dish, Robinson didn’t have his best day, and yet still connected for hard line-drives off the barrel with mid-90s EVs, sitting on his back leg and simply flicking the barrel. It’s easy to look at him and dream big on his slugging potential. It’s not a matter of capacity, so much as unlocking it consistently. Robinson is a large upside slugger with great makeup.

Hit: RHH. Stock, wide setup. Controlled load with powerful posture. Quiet eyes.  Backside delivers the barrel from no nonsense load. Direct to impact covering high to load. Strong hands with powerful barrel delivery. Leverage to all fields with barrel control. Big power upside.
Power: 94.3 max exit velocity, averaged 85.6 mph. 308’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. Top shelf action. 3/4 slot.
Defense: Moves well for a big guy. Well timed footwork for an XL frame. Hanging glove arm to receive. Clean pocket.
Run: 7.43 runner in the 60. 

Few players in the region bring the kind of physicality that Robinson offers, listed at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. He progressed especially well over last offseason and transformed his offensive profile into a more rhythmic hitter who works the middle of the diamond, and that stands to benefit him in the long-term, as he matures. We’ve seen flashes of his immense offensive upside in 2021, including this past September at The Rock Complex, where he smashed a ball off the very top of the big fence in left-center.

Power: 93.4 max exit velocity, averaged 87.4 mph. 330’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Short arm action, 3/4 arm slot.
Defense: Moves well for size, plays low to the ground, sure-handed with a clean transfer, fluid footwork around the base.
Run: 8.03 runner in the 60. 

Robinson is as physically advanced as it gets for a freshman, standing at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, inside a power-hitting first base profile. A right-handed hitter, Robinson has a short and repeatable swing for his size that stays to the middle of the diamond with authority. He’s an advanced defender around the bag for his age as well, moving confidently with soft hands as a big target.

Defense: Active feet, showed some pre-pitch bounce. Low body posture at gather, hands work under center of body. Quick glove pack to release.

Proportional, high-upside frame. Tall quiet setup in the box, bat rests down over back shoulder, simple load, short stride. Bat stays level through the zone. Capable of recognizing curveball spin out of the hand. Has a high offensive ceiling.

Defense: Reliable hands for age, athletic and plays through ball well.
Arm: RH. INF - 69 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 arm slot, shows some carry for age.
Hit: RHH. Tall, balanced, narrow setup, small leg lift, short stride. Fast bat speed for age, long, uphill path, potential gap-gap hitter, fluid rhythm.
Power: 75 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 8.97 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Works in rhythm, in line, lands slightly open, tall and fall and drop and drive mix.
