6/8/15 - Illinois commit. Solid frame, 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. Athletic and repeatable delivery. Pounds the zone with multiple pitch good pitchabilty, changes speed and location well. High IQ on the mound. Arm works from a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 84-87 mph, was able to reach back throughout and touch 88 mph, good fastball command to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball ranged 70-76 mph, acted more slider at the high end, more depth at the low end of velocity, good feel, confident and throws in any count. Showed good control of changeup, 76-80 mph, sink and arm side run.
3/16/14 Illinois commit. 6-foot-2, 185-pound right handed pitcher, solid sturdy frame, athletic build. Delivery is easy and repeatable, tall and fall approach, works directionally. Arm action is clean, high ¾ arm slot, loose arm action. High pitchability guy. Fastball sat at 82-84 mph, we’ve previously seen up to 87 mph, fastball had sink and knowledge of the zone. Curveball is 11/5 shape, 71-72 mph, also showed advanced feel for the pitch. Changeup has excellent feel with command, near fastball arm speed, flashed sinking action, 74-76 mph. Meissner is one of the top pitchability guys in his class showing the ability to command multiple pitches to both sides of the plate.
8/4/13 - Meissner was the first Midwest Future Game prospect to make a college commitment as the 6-foot-3, 175-pound right handed pitcher committed to Illinois just days after the event. Meissner looked sharp in game action touching 87 mph with his fastball and featuring an advanced curveball at 69-72 mph. Meissner looks to have the typical pitchers build that will withstand plenty of innings at the next level. His solid lower half and wide shoulders can carry additional mass and velocity and he matures. Obviously a high level prospect, Meissner will be interesting to follow over the rest of his high school career as he prepares for the next level.
3/3/13 - Athletic build, shows strength, 6-foot-2, 190-pound third baseman. Defensively shows a loose arm action across the diamond, high ¾ arm slot, shows carry (78 mph). Soft hands, fields athletically, shows body control. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, smooth load, short stride. Lower half works, good balance throughout. Solid contact, repeatability, 81 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Meissner is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound two way player. Meissner has an athletic frame and shows ability both on the mound and with the bat.
