6-foot-6, 175 pounds; a spindly, long-levered with a high, thin waist on a build that carries huge projection. Dobberstein came out of the gates with some extra juice on Saturday, pumping an 88 and back-to-back 87 mph fastballs in order before settling back down into an 84-85 range. He’s impressed in the past with a variety of offspeed offerings, including a couple different breaking balls. He showed off both, a slider with sweep 67-69 mph, and a curveball that was a little more firm off a 10/4 plane – both flashed sharp action, though were inconsistent at times. Dobberstein was working hard and living in the low-80s come his fourth and final frame, but this game was more so an example of the lanky righty scratching the surface of his immense potential.
Positional Profile: RHP; An upside sophomore in the state.
Body: 6-foot-6, 175-pounds. Thin, spindly, lanky frame with extra-long levers; high-waisted.
Delivery: Tall/squared start from the right of the rubber; simple/quick side rock to high and tall knee at balance point. Shoulders get closed on slight incline at separation, lead leg goes down and out to square, toe-closed landing. Low effort, controlled finish to first base side.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, long, efficient arm circle; quick 3/4 slot.
FB: T85, 81-84 mph. Slight arm-side action; some jump through the zone. Extension helps increase perceived velo.
CB: 68-70 mph. 10/4 shape with sharp, late lateral action. Early feel to locate.
SL: 68-69 mph. Similar to curveball; aggressive with sharp horizontal action. A little less consistent.
CH: 76-77 mph. Thrown at arm speed with feel, consistent arm-side run/fade.
SPLT: 72-73 mph. Aggressive and at arm speed; flashed some late action under the zone.
Settled in after a rocky first inning. He allowed two runs on a pair of walks and hit by pitches each, but did not allow a run the rest of the way, in his five innings. Dobberstein is a high-waisted 6-foot-6 right-hander with premium projection and a fastball that ranged from 79-82 mph in the first and dropped only a couple ticks down through his next five innings of work. The running fastball worked well in conjunction with a breaking ball he felt out for strikes and swings and misses after that bumpy first.

Delivery: Works on line, level through landing, squared foot strike, low effort.
Arm Action: RH. Long loose arm action, quick arm high 3/4 slot.
FB: T81, 80-81 mph. Sinking action, slight arm side run, showed feel for the strike zone.
SL: 68-70 mph. 10/4 shape, aggressive arm speed, dropped for strikes.
CH: 74-77 mph. Fade action, thrown for strikes, deceptive arm speed.
SPLT: 72-74 mph. Flashed plus downer action for age, convicted arm speed.
3.20.18 - 6-foot-5, 170-pound two-way player, high ceiling prospect, frame projects, long and lean. On the mound delivery works in rhythm with tempo, tall and fall type, online and lands square, tall finish. Arm action is quick and loose, advanced arm speed, high ¾ slot. Fastball projects, hard finish through the zone, showed run to arm side, has feel, 77-80 mph, topped at 81 mph. Slider has sharp 11/5 action, well above average bite, has feel, 65-68 mph. Changeup thrown with fastball arm speed, slight fade to arm side, 70-72 mph. Splitter has some downer action, tilt, 71-73 mph. Left-handed hitter, balanced stance, short lifted stride. Aggressive swing, average balance, path is uphill, lifted contact. 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm is live, carries across, 78 mph. Corner infield projection, long actions. 8.03 runner in the 60.
