9/12/15 - Verbally committed to UW-Milwaukee

7/12/15 - 6-foot-4, 205-pound uncommitted RHP works from an over the top delivery. Good balance through delivery, Sat 82-84 mph through 6 IP touched a couple 85's. High leg kick on delivery, fastball tends to miss glove side. Curveball was inconsistent in the 66-68 mph range but started to get a feel for it in the later innings. At times showed the makings of a good out-pitch.

4/2/15 - Currently ranked No. 22 in Wisconsin, uncommitted. Big strong frame, 6-foot-4, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, also swings a strong left-handed bat. Comes at the hitters with an over the top delivery. Mechanics are repeatable and works fast on the mound, high leg lift, arm works well, long and loose, creates whip. His stride is about 90-95 percent of his body height and gets his chest over lead knee at release. Could create more leverage earlier in his mechanics to add some velo. Controlled both sides of the plate with his fastball, had a natural cut to it at times, extremely tough to square up, sat 82-84 mph, touched 88 mph once.  Curveball has a 11/5 type break with good late action and throws it with good arm speed, 65-67 mph. Good athlete, fields his position well for a big guy. Made some nice plays on swinging bunts. 4IP, 2H, 2BB, 7K.

3/16/14 - High level raw athleticism, advanced body, lean strength, 6-foot-4, 195-pound two-way prospect. Offensively hits from the left side, open stance, smooth loading action with short stride, strong balance through contact. Fast twitch hands, creates bat speed, short to it with extension, high level power potential. Defensively flashes tools, actions can be refined, shows the ability to play through the baseball, shuffles through release. Arm plays at 83 mph from the outfield, 4.26 runner down the line. On the mound delivery works online, works downhill well. Arm action is short, high ¾ slot, quick arm action. Showed command of his fastball, flashed run and sink to his arm side, 82-84 mph, touched 85 mph, excellent downhill plane. Changeup has sink, near fastball arm speed, 70-75 mph. Curveball has 11/5 tilt, 69-72 mph. DeYoung is a high level athlete with a big ceiling and one of the top prospects in a deep 2016 class in Wisconsin.

10/19/13 - Lanky frame, 6-foot-3, 190-pound left handed hitting two-way player, athletic build with projectability. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride. Athletic hands, short path with occasional extension, excellent bat speed, 89 mph exit velocity. Projectable high level hitter. Defensively showed quick footwork, 7.19 runner in the 60. Arm played at 84 mph from the outfield, loose arm action, high ¾ slot, showed accuracy and occasional carry. On the mound works from a ¾ slot, long arm action. Fastball has slight run, showed control, 78-80 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 67-69 mph. Changeup has fading action, thrown with fastball similar arm speed, showed feel and control, 66-70 mph.
