Kowalkowski provided an intriguing look for Rhino Squeeze on Thursday afternoon. 6-foot-2, 145-pounds with plenty more room for added strength. High leg kick delivery that is sequenced. Arm plays quick and loose with whippy action. Fastball jumped out of the hand working in the low-80s, topping at 84 mph with finish through the zone. Dropped down to a submarine arm slot for an upper-70s changeup with depth to the arm-side. Also featured deceptive a low-70s curveball that was thrown at arm-speed. An interesting prospect on the mound to watch as he physically matures.
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-2, 145-pounds. Wiry, projectable, good proportions.
Hit: RHH. Athletic set up, slightly open with relaxed hands. Lands centered, strong hitting position, well sequenced, hands work direct to and through the ball through the middle of the field.
Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 75.4 mph. 300’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 91 mph. Long, loose, quick, 3/4 slot.
Defense: One-hand gather, in stride, on-line.
Run: 7.16 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Sidesaddle delivery, moves with intent down the mound, athletic mover, lands slightly towards first-base side.

Kowalkowski is listed at a projectable 6-foot-2, 145 pounds; an upside build. Kowalkowski showed well as a two-way prospect at the event. On the mound, Sawyer works with a full circle arm swing to a three-quarter slot and a quick arm out front. The fastball topped at 80 mph landing in the zone with some natural cut life finish to the pitch. The curveball, 68-70 mph, has two-plane break and 10/4 shape, flashed late bite. He also displayed a feel for a changeup, 74-75 mph. During BP, Kowalkowski consistently barrelled up balls showing hitability and strength in hands. From the outfield, the ball jumped out of his hand topping out at 87 mph during the defensive portion of the event.

Hit: RHH. Starts in an upright stance, slightly open, slight leg-lift into a long stride, keeps elbows close together throughout pre-pitch. Loose arms throughout the swing, level path to the ball with a line-drive approach, showed the ability to maintain balance through contact.

Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Long/loose 3/4 arm, clean action.
Defense: Athletic actions, fluid footwork around the ball, plays through the ball into an athletic crowhop.

Kowalkowski can really spin the baseball. Inside a wiry/lean 6-foot, 135-pound stature, Kowalkowski was up to a projectable 78 mph on a fastball that spun at an average rate of 2,312 rpm, and his curveball flashed genuine late bite, and not just for his age, while also spinning at a high rate (2,455 rpm on average). He has a quick, loose arm and he maintains his balance well, indicating that as he fills out, the velocity will climb complementing the rest of his already impressive arsenal.
