7/12/16

5-foot-11, 175-pound, average athletic frame, with room to fill out. A right-handed hitter, the stance is simple and balanced. The hands are quiet and lower half is under control with a very small stride. The swing is short and quick, he keeps his hands inside the baseball well and goes gap to gap. The tee exit velocity was 83, with whip out front and ran a 4.7 from home to first. Both rounds of BP were good along with in game swings, collected a triple, made solid contact in all at bats. Defensively, attacks the baseball with soft hands, footwork and transfer are clean. The arm works out of ¾ slot, clocked at 77 mph across the diamond and had carry to throws. Double play feeds and footwork around the bag were good. Off the mound, this right-hander works fast with a repeatable delivery. The hands start low and raise in-sync with the leg raise and he gets to a good gather position. The ball comes out of a ¾ slot and all three pitches come out of the same spot. The fastball has a little sink to armside, clocked in the mid to high-70’s. The changeup is probably his best pitch, good depth, thrown with fastball arm speed and was clocked at 69 mph. The breaking ball was 65-67 mph and had good late spin to it. Solid all around player, likes to compete and play.

2/14/16

5-foot-11, 177-pound frame, with an average athletic build, has room to fill out. Offensively, hits from the right side. The stance is a bit wider and slightly open, hands are set at the shoulders. Timing is used with a small leg kick and gets hands back into a good hitting position. The hands are loose and work freely, path is flat through the zone and keeps the barrel in the zone. The tee exit velocity was 82 mph and ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. In the field, he showed good prep steps and fielded balls out front with soft hands. Footwork could be quicker and sharper. The arm path is short and clean on the backside, was clocked at 73 mph across the diamond. Off the mound, this right hander has a simple delivery. The lot is ¾ to high-¾, leg raise, separation and direction are on time. The fastball was up to 79 mph a tick higher than the fall, pounded it for strikes to both sides of the plate and was down in zone. The curveball is a plus pitch, not thrown overly hard at 68-69 mph, but the break is 11/5 and can drop it in for strikes. Times to the plate could be quicker at 1.56. The fastball has more in there, showed good sink. Projects out for me more off the mound.

10/12/15

At 5-foot-11, 172-pounds the frame is strong and has room to put some added weight on. At the plate hits from the right side, the stance is open to even hands are set at shoulder height. The bat speed is good, was 80 on the tee exit velocity. Needs to stay through it a bit more but there's some life to his hands. BP was solid, drove ball well to both gaps. In the field showed an arm of 74, tends to crow hop, needs to stay low and keep feet moving. Off the mound the fastball was 77-78 with some life to the arm-side. The delivery has some arms and legs coming at you, leg kick is high, needs to stay on time and ball will come out better. Throws a knuckle drop at 66-68, the action to it was late and was able to throw it for strikes. I like the arm it has some quickness to it from the side view.
