3/7/17

5-foot-9, 160-pound, average athletic frame, has plenty of room to fill out. The hands and wrists have strength to them. A right-handed hitter, the stance is wider than shoulder width, feet are even and hands set at shoulder height. For timing, uses a small leg kick, gains ground with stride foot, shifts weight back, hands have separation from the body, transfers weight from the backside to the front. The swing path is level across the chest, it's short to the ball, stays through it, has a line drive approach, the second round of batting practice was very good. The tee exit velocity was 81 mph, and ran a 7.87 sixty yard dash. Defensively, setup is balanced, low to the ground behind the plate. The hands are soft, receives the ball with ease, gets around pitches, keeps the baseball in the zone, gives the umpire something to see. The arm and feet work well, feet gain ground in transfer and gets closed up, arm action is short and clean, throws right from his ear. The arm was clocked at 72 mph and pop times of 2.12-2.22. The approach to the game is at a high level, tough competitor, is a grinder.

The path is down to level and finishes with two hands. The tee exit velocity was 79 mph, with a ton more in there. In game performance was good, made contact in 4 at bats. Time down the line was ok at 4.8 Defensively, the setup behind the plate is balanced, feet are even, has more of a jump turn for the transfer, gets feet inline to second. The glove gets to throwing hand fairly quickly, the action is short on the back side. Pop times were 2.19-2.28, and was clocked at 71 mph, has some strength in his arm. The arm stops on the backside, just so slightly, keep arm moving throughout and time will drop. Good looking young catcher, strength is a must.
