8.23.18

6-foot, 175-pound, strong, durable, athletic frame. The shoulders are squared off, has room for future development. A right-handed hitting catcher, showed well on both sides of the field. At the plate, stance starts slightly open, gets back to even with stride foot, small pick up and put down with it.  The hands are relaxed and loose, bat starts on the back shoulder, has separation with hands from body during the load. The swing is level to up, keeps the hands inside the baseball, looks to stay in the middle to pull side of the field. Showed to have enough pop to get the baseball into the pull alley, tee exit velocity was clocked at 86 mph. Sixty-yard time was clocked at 7.76, on a wet track. Defensively, arm was clocked at 73 mph from a higher slot, with a pop time of 2.09-2.18. The hands are soft on the catch, clean, quick transfer getting the baseball from glove to throwing hand, with no hesitation. The footwork is clean, gains ground, closes down the front side. Looked to play with energy,  good follow.

Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.76

Exit Velocity: 86 MPH

Arm Velocity: 73 MPH

Scouting Report: 6-foot, 180-pound, strong, thick, athletic frame. The back and shoulders are wide, has room to fill out, hands and wrists have strength to them. Defensively, is above average from behind the plate. The arm action is very short, throws from his ear, has a small hesitation on backside, clocked at 74 mph, up a tick from the last event, strength is plenty good enough. The pop times were at 2.06-2.13, frontside is closed down, small wrap/coil to upper body, the feet are quick, gains ground during transfer. The feel for receiving and blocking is advanced, has soft hands, gets around the baseball and works hard on the dirt balls. Offensively, hits from the right side, stance is slightly wider than shoulder width, feet are even, hands are set lower than shoulder height and are close to body. The swing path gets extension through the baseball. The approach is more middle to the pull side, has enough power to beat the outfielders. The batting practice rounds were solid, showed well. Big follow, stay on him, solid right-handed hitting catcher, has game on both sides of the field.

Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.44

Exit Velocity: 87 mph

Arm Velocity: 74 mph

6-foot, 180-pound, strong, thick athletic frame. The hands and legs have strength and quickness to them. One of the better players at this event, first time I’ve had the opportunity to see him and was surprised and impressed with his ability. A right-handed hitter, the stance is slightly wider than shoulder width, the feet are even, is balanced throughout the swing. The hands are set just below the shoulder, are loose and have some movement to them. The path to the ball is short and quick, is long after, stays on it and through it a good amount of time. The tee exit velocity was 85 mph, with a ton more in there, the barrel has whip and life out front. The approach is line drive, sprayed it from gap to gap, projects to have power down the road. Defensively, shows to be athletic with quick actions and feet behind the dish. The hands are strong, has good touch receiving the baseball. The setup is low to the ground, flexible, right foot replaces left during transfer, glove gets to hand. The arm action is short and quick, ball comes out of a high ¾ slot. The pop times were 2.03, throws were on a line and on the bag, arm was clocked at 73 mph from the chute. High follow for me, one of the better catches in the class of 2018.

8/21/16

Right-handed hitting catcher with a pop time of 1.99 who threw the ball well from behind the dish. The feet and transfer are done well, as he gets rid of it in a hurry. Showed the ability to receive with soft hands and good blocking technique. Showed well behind the dish in the game as well. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 90 mph. The bat has a good amount of strength to it, as he hits out of a wide base setup, and a low hand load. The bat path is long and strong through the ball. The bottom half is under control as he has a small pick up and put down of the front foot prior to contact. Would like to see his front side stay on the ball longer as he pulls off the ball before contact. Did get 2 hits in the game. Ran a 4.96 down the line on his dig to first base.
