7/12/16
6-foot, 150-pound athletic frame with sloped shoulders and plenty of room to fill out. Defensively, the setup behind the plate is relaxed, is flexible and gets low to the ground. The hands are soft and transfer to throw is clean without much wasted movement. The arm was clocked at 69 mph, with pop times of 2.06-2.19, throws were consistently on the bag. Offensively, hits with a slightly closed stance, hands start in a good hitting position, path is level, with a two-handed finish. The tee exit velocity was 76 and ran a 4.6 from home to first. In the game, he worked and ran the game very well with a solid target to throw to.

3/2/16
6-foot, 150-pound thin average athletic build, shoulders are sloped and he has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed hitting catcher, continues to make progress. Shows the ability to really receive and catch. The setup is balanced, gets behind the baseball well, hands are soft, sticks the pitch and he gets under the low pitch. On the block, gets down quickly, surrounds baseball well. The footwork is simple, closes down the front side, could still stay through the release point on throws. Clocked at 67 mph, transfer is quick, with a short arm swing. Offensively, the stance is simple, it’s even, slightly wider than shoulder width and his hands are loose just off the shoulder. The swing path is level finishes with two hands. The tee exit velocity was 80 mph, continues to get better. Shows to have a middle of the field approach, can handle the bat, but strength is a must.

2/14/16
At 6-foot, 150-pounds the frame has plenty of room to fill out and add strength. Third PBR event for Ryan, is progressing nicely. Defensively, the setup is relaxed and balanced behind the plate. The hands are soft and gets behind the ball and receives the ball well. The transfer is quick, with better pop times this time around, from 2.03-2.19. Clocked at 68 mph, still needs to gain arm strength and he is doing a better job of not cutting off throws. Hits from the right side, the stance is simple, even and balanced. The stroke is short to the ball with a two handed finish. Worked the middle of the field approach, made solid contact. The tee exit velocity was 78 mph and ran a 7.47 60-yard dash.

11/15/15
Second PBR event for Ryan, continues to grow on me. Behind the plate the setup is balanced and is relaxed. The receiving and blocking are advanced, gets behind the ball well and gets into a block position very quickly. The transfer is clean, gets it back into throwing position, feet are quick, does a good job of closing up. The arm slot is high, velocity on throws were 68. Pop times to second were 2.2, throws were on the bag. Works extremely well with his pitchers, is a solid leader back there. At the plate hits from a balanced even stance, bat sits on the back shoulder in a good starting position. The stride is soft and hands get back into a good load position, path is clean to the ball, finishes with two hands. The tee exit velocity was 79. Strength is a must for  both sides of the field.

8/26/15
At 6-foot, 140-pounds, the frame is thin, has lots of room to add weight, strength is a must for him. Hits from the right side, the stance is wide and open a bit. The path is ok, gets arm barred a bit, uphill at times. The tee exit velocity was 74 and the time down the line was 4.53. Behind the plate, the setup is balanced, does a good job receiving, hands are soft and sticks pitches well.  The transfer is good, could close up more on throws to second. Pop times were 2.13-2.37 and arm strength was 67 on the gun, cuts throw off on release at times. Showed well in game, has some feel. Some things to work on but all easy, quick fixes. Strength will play a major role in his development.
