6-foot-1, 200 pound RHH. Strong frame. Showed sizeable gains across the board from previous event. Slightly open stance and gets square with controlled stride. Aggressive plate approach. Looks to drive the baseball and displays the power to do so. Creates lift. Projects as middle of the order type bat. Moves well laterally defensively and has the arm strength (81 mph) to stay at third base.
On the mound, showed a big velocity jump. Uses a shorter arm action and works through a high-3/4 slot. Deliberate delivery. Works the lower part of the zone with 83-85 mph fastball. Occasional ASR. Throws two breaking balls, a 65-66 mph curveball with some depth and 11/5 break, and a harder 76-79 mph developing slider with short break. Shows more current feel for the curveball but slider has good potential.
Overall, a very intriguing two-way prospect in the 2022 class.
1/21/19 Pitching Body Type: 6-foot 170-pound prospect with an average build.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Threw from a high ¾ arm slot with a slow tempo to his delivery.
Fastball: 75-78 mph fastball showed some late arm side run with better command to his arm side.
Slider: 62-63 mph breaking ball showed slider shape and spin with more depth than lateral break.
Changeup: 72-73 mph changeup was true through the zone. Seems to be a developing pitch.
Pitchability: Good feel for his fastball to the arm side and overall good feel and ability to spin his slider. Changeup is the least far along in regards to refinement.
Role: Slider shows potential to be a good pitch paired with his running fastball to create a ‘sinker/slider’ type role as a bullpen arm currently. But shows the potential physical projection to add velocity and become a starter type.
1/21/19 Body Type: 6-foot 170-pound prospect with an average build.
Swing Mechanics: Athletic load, going with a leg kick/bat tip combination.
Hit: Aggressive swinger with intent behind stroke. All fields approach with the ability to naturally lift the baseball. Obvious physicality in swing with a comparable combination of strength and speed to it.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer/Middle of Lineup.
Run: 7.79 60-yard dash.
Field: Third baseman with the frame for the position. Ball skills are on par for class. Moves well laterally and maintains glove abilities on the move.
Throw: High-¾ clean arm with more strength to come. 74 mph arm strength across the diamond presently.
Defensive Projection: 1B/3B.
