Fall Prospect Program 2013 - Forbes is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound OF with an athletic build and room to fill on his frame. He participated in Week 2 at Morehead State, and as he has done each time we have seen him, he showed very good bat speed and the ability to drive the baseball. He finished the day going 2-for-6 with a triple and 2 RBI’s, and uses his 6.85 speed well on the bases. He has shown an 87 mph arm from the OF and 90 mph exit velocity off the tee.
8/11/13 - 6-foot-1, 167-pound prospect, room to fill on frame, moves well in outfield, athletic actions, showed increased arm strength at 87 mph with carry. At the plate, hits from open setup, explosive use of lower half generates barrel whip, shows ability to drive the ball to all fields, flashed bat speed with 90 mph tee exit velocity, ran 4.66 down the line (slow getting out of box), participated both days going 3-for-8 with two doubles and was robbed of two other hits, makes consistent hard contact, impressive hitter with good pop.
6/11/13 - 6-foot-1, 168-pound prospect, moves well in outfield, shows athletic actions, plays through the ball, clean exchange, 84 mph arm strength. At the plate, hits from open /athletic setup, short stride, explosive lower half creates barrel whip and quick bat speed, shows definite power potential, made consistent hard contact in BP and in game play good athlete, ran 6.85 60 yard dash, 86 mph tee exit velocity (has been 90 at previous event), very solid 2014 prospect.
2/18/13 - 6-foot, 168-pound prospect, defensively shows good footwork in infield, plays through the ball, hands showed definite improvement over previous showcase, good arm strength at 82 mph across the infield, good actions in outfield, ball comes out clean, 82 mph arm strength from outfield. At the plate, he uses an open stance with high hand position and a slight bat wrap, has made significant adjustments to stride length by showing shorter stride and better balance, able to generate good lower half torque and transfers weight into a stiff front leg allowing for good extension with a slight upward bat path, generates good bat speed into the zone, ran 7.27 60 yard dash, registered 90 mph tee exit velocity. Forbes is a definite prospect to follow in the 2014 class.
