On the mound, he showed a short and quick arm path. Strike thrower with plenty of feel for his delivery. The fastball got up to 81 and showed a ton of life and run to it. He used it on both side of the plate. The spin is 69-70 with good shape and depth to it. Could be an out pitch at the next level as he throws enough strikes with his fastball out of the bullpen. The slot is ¾ and quick. As a positional player, threw 82 from the hole at shortstop and showed a plus glove with short quick actions. Got off the ball very well and handled the pivot with experience. Tee exit velocity of 83. The swing is loose and and has no load to it. The bottom half is under control and the body is athletic. The plane of the swing needs flattening, and the setup is even with an even hand setup. Ran a 4.59 home to first.





 
9/20/15 (NJ) – Mestre is lean at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. He currently runs just okay but will become faster when he begins to fill out. He hits from a tall, even stance with minimal load. He relies on his hand speed to hit the ball around the field. He stays inside the ball but tends to cut his swing off, pulling the barrel out of the hitting zone. He had clean, projectable actions as short with solid glove skills. He showed very good body control and an already strong arm across the diamond. On the mound, he pitched with simple, repeatable mechanics and fluid arm action from a ¾ arm slot. His fastball had nice run to his arm side at 78-80 miles-per-hour and his slider had good bite when down in the zone.
