Schmidt shows a controlled delivery, good rhythm and balance, clean arm action, and ball jumps out of hand with good arm speed. Fastball was 79-81 mph, above avg. command, with exceptional late running action. Shows solid shape on slurvy 67-68 mph breaking ball for strikes. Late arm-side run and sink on changeup thrown at fastball arm speed. Not exceptional velocity at present; but mechanics, arm action, and feel for 3 pitches projects Schmidt out as a commodity left-hander for many college programs.
