6/14/16 - Abney is a 6-foot-2 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.94 60, one of the top times of the event, and 4.56 home-to-first.  He has an 85 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load, level path through zone, hands work inside ball and stays on ball after contact, line drives to the middle and opposite side of the field during batting practice.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velo, one of the top velos of the event,  high three quarters arm action, quick feet working with exchange, quick release, mostly accurate throws, long legged and loose arm action. On the mound, Abney comes from an over the top arm slot, loose arm action, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort, controls both side of the plate with fastball, at 81-83 mph, late life to fastball with running action, curveball at 70-74 mph, 11-to-5 action, some with sharp break, shows signs of being good pitch as he continues to develop, change up at 71-74, arm side sink, throws all pitches for strikes, pitched to contact in games, struck out one, no walks, high percentage of strikes.
1/18/16 - Abney is a 6-foot 167-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 4.46 home-to-first and had an 89 mph exit velo, one of the top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, starts loaded in back leg, attacks ball, aggressive swing, level through the zone, quick hands, middle line drives.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velo, one of the top infield velos on the day, loose arm action, clean transfer.  On the mound, Abney worked his fastball at 76-79 mph with an over the top arm slot, fastball has some late run, smooth rhythm, accelerating down the mound.  He works with regular effort, land in-line with stride, finishes with a slight fall to the glove the side.  Breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape movement at 65-68 mph.  Change up at 74-75 mph, near fastball arm speed. Lean and projectable frame.
2/16/15 - Abney is a 6-foot-1 162-pound SS/RHP, Projectable build with over-the-top arm slot on the mound, quick rhythm during delivery, has deception.  Fastball has cut at 75-80 mph, throws for strike, 11-to-5 shaped curveball, late action, 63-65 mph, change-up at 71-72 mph, near fastball arm speed.  Abney is a player to watch in the 2018 class, with projectable frame., at the plate, linear load in back leg, accelerates going to the ball, level path to the ball, balanced finish, quick bat speed, gap-to-gap approach, 86 mph exit velo, 4.44 home-to-first, at SS, attacks ball, long arm swing, momentum towards target, 74 mph across diamond, mostly accurate throws, lean body, long legs
