Shane Keledy, SS, Steinert HS, 2016
9/19/15 – Keledy has some of the smoothest actions I’ve seen from a shortstop all summer. He is a pure shortstop whose range, glove skills, and ability to quickly transfer the ball will allow him to stick at the position at the next level. He improved upon his raw speed since I last saw him as well. He is a handsy hitter with bat speed and the ability to hit quality pitches. He is selective and waits for a pitch he could jump on and has the ability to still hit balls hard when he has two strikes because of his ability to hit with his hands. He’s cleaned up his lower half in the box and is getting more juice behind the ball now. He should be able to hit for average at the next level with some added size. I really like him as a defensive prospect.
7/16/15 – Keledy is a 5-foot-11 shortstop who has a wiry-athletic frame. Throughout the event, Keledy proved to be the best defender. The 2016 middle infielder showed slick actions at SS with a smooth glove and excellent footwork. He had great double play feeds in-game and showed pretty good arm strength on his throws across the diamond. He ran a 7.13 in the 60-yard dash and played above that speed. Keledy hit from a slightly open stance and a low hand set with minimal load. He had a level swing plan and a quick bat and stayed balanced throughout his swing. With added strength, Keledy should have some gap-to-gap pop. Keledy projects as a very solid defensive shortstop at a high level.
