Apkarian stands 5-foot-11 185-pounds with a stocky build. On the mound his delivery needs more control and balance. He drives off his backside, throws from a high 3/4 slot, falls to the first base side. Fastball sits 76-78 mph, curveball had some gradual shape at 68 mph. More control over his mechanics, and a strength program could really benefit Apkarian this winter.
3B/Hitting - At 3B he uses plus baseball actions, moves athletically, stays behind ball, clean transfer, throws from a high 3/4 slot with 78 mph arm strength, gets back side through the ball. At the plate his setup is slightly open, hands high. On the pitch uses a back load, knee lift and stride, path is a little long, plane is uphill through the zone, shoulder high finish. Exit velocity off a tee was 80 mph. He ran a 7.1 60.
