Comments
Second time seeing the southern-tier prospect and he continues to improve his numbers. Build like a linebacker, 5-foot-11, 190 with broad shoulders. Offensively - Wider stance with a balanced approach, hands shoulder height. Short compact path to the ball, hands continue to get stronger (88mph exit velocity) slight uphill bat plane with full-extension through contact. Shows signs of power potential. Defensively - likely a 1B player at the next-level, stays behind the ball, throws from an over-the-top slot with consistent accuracy. Pitching - Upright approach, high knee-lift, hands follow similar path. Dives hard on his back side as he drives towards home, back knee almost touches the mound before release. Has some lean towards 1B side and throws from a high over-the-top slot. Fastball topped 77 mph, ranging 75-76. Curveball was 65 with gradual bend.
WNY Pro Holiday Clinic (December 19, 2015)
This projectable 2018 stands 5’11 190 pounds and showed tremendous upside at the Holiday Clinic. Offensively- He sets up wide and remains balanced in the lower half. On load he drifts his hands and drops slightly causing a little slowdown in momentum. This quick fix should generate some instant bat speed gains for the young hitter. In the field he showed at first base and handled himself well. With a strong athletic frame and a 4.27 down the line he has the athletic ability to possibly move to a corner outfield at some point down the line as well. He’ll definitely be one to follow over the next two years prior to college decision time. Pitching - He uses a calm pace to his delivery, side-step with his hands relaxed. High knee lift, hands begin to separate as his knee drops, drives firm on his backside. Short front side extension, fairly clean arm action to a high over-the-top slot, collapses hard on his back side before release. His finish is somewhat crouched over his front knee.
