Chauvin is an intriguing prospect who was relatively unknown heading into the 2016 season. On the mound, Chauvin was loose and easy from his 3/4 arm slot, ball came out of his hand clean, a lot more in the tank as he was 83-84 mph with his fastball. Breaking ball showed some late action with 10/4 shape, at times would get on top and be more 11/5, rotation and feel is there to be a quality pitch. Changeup lacked consistency but still feel it will be an average pitch for Chauvin. The ability to repeat mechanics and get more out of his 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame will be huge for Chauvin. Like what the future has in store off the bump for him. At the plate, left-handed stroke that was quiet and balanced, hands had some looseness, worked more to pull side, was able to find the barrel, hit form narrow, crouched stance, at times would create some lift in swing. Defensively, proper actions and made the plays. Athletic player is there, like what he can become on the mound.
