Athletic two-way player with speed on the base paths and feel for the mound and secondary stuff. 2019 grad listed at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Defensively, agile lower half with spring in step, fields ball with proper actions, hands have room to soften up a bit, works through baseball and arm is loose and easy from 3/4 slot. Showed he could go side to side, was 81 mph across infield. Offensively, hits from open stance, leg kick gets him back online and at landing position, hands have some movement to get the bat started, small load with hands, can create more torque in swing with angles, attacks and is aggressive with some bat speed, looked to pull and get out front, still showed he could trust hands and go other way, exit velocity was 82 mph. On the mound, maintained athletic actions, arm works with quickness out front while he has three pitches he can throw for strikes. Fastball sat low 80's and topped out at 83 mph, worked in zone and had arm-side run at times. Curveball had rotation and depth at 70-73 mph with 10/4 shape, good feel for pitch and changeup worked in same range with diving action and fade to arm side. Moved well down the mound, was able to get on top of ball and make quality pitches. Chance for him to continue as a true two-way player, the athleticism is gonna make Dean a fun player to watch, 2019 grad who should start to gain interest.
