9.9.17 - Monks, now 5-foot-10, 150-pounds ran a 7.22 sixty with clean movements and room to get quicker. At the plate, small leg kick to get swing started, good load with hands, bat has rhythm and is able to get barrel out front while working inside the ball with good path to contact. Looks to stay extended through finish, line drive swing and looseness to like, exit velo 80 mph. Was 83 from the outfield, online with some arc. On the mound, 77-79 with fastball, curveball had 10/4 shape with spin to it at 71, arm works and could be more there on the mound. Good actions and with strength, chance to make a jump early on in 2018.

Monks is an uncommitted senior listed at 5-foot-9, 145-pounds with young features and remaining strength gains. Ran a 4.56 home to first with regular effort from the right side. Offensively, small toe tap to stride in the box, loose bat waggle with his hands before launch, stays balanced through contact as he works to stay inside the ball, line drive hitter with an exit velocity of 80 mph. Defensively, actions and approach were clean in the outfield, arm worked really well, was able to get extended and outfront with a velocity of 83 mph, ball was easy out the hand with arm speed and proper rotation on the ball. On the mound, Monks worked from easy 3/4 arm slot with looseness and whip in his right arm. Run on fastball at 79 mph, breaking ball was more of a slider at 70 mph with tilt action, maintained arm speed on changeup at 73 mph, which was a little firm but had action his arm side.
