Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical: Large and thickly built 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame with advanced strength throughout the movements. 8.04 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH. Open, wide stance with a slight bend into the back right knee as the hands started low out over the plate in the setup. Utilized a deliberate lift and replace stride while getting the foot down early coupled with a move up and back in rhythm in order to launch a violent, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. The top hand worked extremely well throughout the swing delivering the barrel head with intent at the front of the plate. Sunk into a strong lower half generating solid hip shoulder separation allowing for a top bat-exit velocity of 97 mph per Trackman Baseball with obvious home run power to the pull-side. Max of 23.90 mph hand speed according to Blast Motion, putting him in the top 5 at the event.
Defensively: The primary first baseman featured adequate feel around the bag with a moderately low center of gravity. A soft glove hand worked with looseness out in front of the body, could move decently laterally with ability to use short, choppy footwork to get around the ball. Accurate, high ¾ slot across the diamond. INF - 70 mph
2/22/20
Displayed an advanced, physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame with present strength in everything he does. The left-handed hitter begins with a wide, open stance with hands by the belly button. A deep load and lift-and-replace stride allow for stretch creating advanced barrel whip through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Demonstrated one of the top batting practice rounds of the day with a short, repeatable swing yielding easy pull side juice. Showcased a strong top hand with ability to make tight turns to the baseball. Recorded an impressive 92 mph bat-exit velocity and ran a 7.47 60-yard dash.
