10.15.15 - Verbally committed to Lincoln Land Community College.

7/23/13 - Staten is very projectable with a high ceiling at 6-foot-4, 165 pounds. The lanky right-handed pitcher displayed some rhythm in his delivery working from a tall balance point, releasing from a high ¾ slot. Staten’s fastball showed life and sink at 77-79 mph with occasional cutting action. 12/6 curveball is thrown with some arm speed at 68-70 mph and his changeup was 72 mph. Staten is a pitching prospect to follow as he develops into his frame.

7.17.13 - Shows potential to become elite prospect in Illinois’ 2016 class. Lanky 6-foot-4, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to develop. Works downhill well, over-the-top slot, loose arm, short arm action. Fastball topped at 80 mph, sitting 77-78, strikes down in the zone. Showed command of 67-70 mph changeup; also throws 69-72 mph curveball and a cutter. With some mechanical adjustments and added strength, Staten should continue to add velocity in the coming years. High-follow prospect.

3/11/12 Staten is a projectable 6-foot-2, 140-pound right-handed pitcher who threw three pitches for strikes. He throws from over the top and his best pitch was a 72-74 mph fastball.  His off-speed pitches consisted of a 61-65 mph slider and a 61-66 mph changeup. As Staten fills into his body, he should see a velocity spike in the coming years. Staten will attend Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin HS.
