5/06/24

Xavier signee. Currently ranked No. 30 in the state and standing at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with present strength throughout the frame. Started at third base and batted in the three-spot for the Knights. Mensik looks the part both on defense and with the bat. Defensively, he made the routine play consistently while showing easy movements to both his left and right. His arm plays true from the hot corner, with easy accuracy across the infield. A right-handed hitter, Mensik has a quiet confidence about him in the box with some rhythm in the hands pre-pitch. He starts with a simple load, before swinging with a slightly uphill path with hands that work direct to the ball; producing consistent hard contact throughout the game. Mensik finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base.

3/25/24

Xavier signee, was impressive in all facets on Monday morning, showing two-way potential as well. Currently ranked No. 30 in the state, Mensik got the Knights offense going in the bottom of the first inning when he turned on a mid-90’s heater for a double down the left field line. The athletic 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitter swings with a level path that produces consistent hard contact, before running hard out of the box. Defensively, he played the hot corner for the Knights and showed reliable hands for the position to go with a strong, accurate arm that should allow him to stick on the left side of the infield at the next level. Mensik also hopped on the mound to close the game out for Lincoln-Way Central and pounded the zone with an 82-84 mph fastball to go with a 72 mph breaking ball. The future Musketeer will be a name to keep tabs on the rest of the spring.

6/21/23

An Xavier commit, Mensik proved why he is one of the top middle infield products in Illinois’ class of 2024 while serving as an anchor for Lincoln-Way Central this spring. Mensik finished the season with a .419/.513/.705 slash line with six home runs, 44 RBI’s and 46 runs scored across 129 at-bats while also providing some of the most reliable defense in the state up the middle.

5/11/23

Xavier commit. Currently ranked No. 26 in the state’s 2024 class. 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with upside and a high waist, athletic look with room to add on strength. Smooth defender on the infield with soft hands, easy range to both sides with confidence in his glove and transfer. The right-handed hitter collected two hits on the day with a double and a run scored, showing off a fluid stroke with some whip in the barrel, appearing to be comfortable and confident in the box throughout his at-bats. High-follow 2024 prospect.

3/31/23

Xavier commit. In two games played, Mensik shined. In the Knights game against Naperville Central, he went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, five RBIs, and two runs. His home run was a walk off, three-run shot, winning the game 7-4. Against Homewood-Flossmoor, Mensik went 4-for-5 (.800 avg.) with a double, four RBIs, and two runs scored.

5/17/21

6-foot-1, 160-pound, lean, athletically-built, right-handed pitcher. Came out of the bullpen as a freshman for Lincoln-Way Central. Struck out two in 1.1 innings pitched. Polished, athletic, repeatable delivery; clean, connected arm action, plays out of a high ¾ slot with quickness out front. Absolutely pounded the strike zone with his fastball/slider combination throwing 83% of his 23 pitches for strikes. Fastball, commanded the zone, occasional late arm-side action. Slider works 11/5, feel for the zone, depth at times; action is in between a curveball and a slider at this point. Should continue to sharpen/tighten as he gains strength and arm speed; chance to be a go-to put-away pitch in the future. High-follow 2024 prospect.
