SHG was one of the spring’s biggest surprises, as it climbed into the top 10 state rankings for much of the season. The long and athletically built Ackerman served as a big reason why the Cyclones won the Central State 8 championship. Armed with a fastball that climbed as high as 88 mph at the PBR Top Prospect Showcase in June, Ackerman has posted an 11-2 record in two varsity seasons.
