6.21.16 - Michigan State recruit. 5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Not big in stature, but possesses elite defensive abilities to stick at shortstop. High-level defender, advanced actions and hands, excellent range, ultra-quick transfer, fields the ball with fluidity and rhythm. Highly athletic arm, ability to throw from multiple angles on the move, accurate with carry, 80 mph across the infield. Makes everything look easy in the field; hard-nosed competitor. Ran a 6.76 laser-timed 60. Offensively, right-handed hitter, line-drive approach, loose hands, level bat path. Registered 83 mph exit velocity.

8/26/15 - Verbally committed to Michigan State.
Future Games 2015 - Small framed 5-foot-9, 145-pound athletic, right-handed hitting shortstop. Ran the fastest 60 yard dash for Team Illinois, 6.65. Defensively, showcased some of the best hands at the Future Games on the infield. Plus actions, quick transfer, athletic, short-arm action. Throws were true, had carry and clocked at 81 mph from across the diamond.  Flashed an electric transfer in game, relaying a throw that was in and out of his glove in a split second, had life and was right on the money to the third-basemen. Also, made the slow roller play look easy. Offensively, in batting practice flashed plus bat control, spraying line-drives all over the yard. Hit a triple in game to the right centerfield gap and floated around the bases. Projects to hit for a high average at the next level.

3.20.15 - Sophomore second baseman, right-handed hitter, impressed with range up the middle, on two plays to back hand. Also doubled off Fellows’ 91 mph fastball over right-fielder’s head in third at bat.
8/17/14 - 5-foot-8, 140-pound small and athletic switch-hitting shortstop currently ranked No. 19 in Illinois’ 2017 class.  Hits from a wide base with a short stride and simple approach from both side.  Right handed swing may be a bit stiffer and more uphill, but still short and to the ball.  Left handed swing is fluid, short to the baseball, with several line drives to the opposite field gap during batting practice.  Hands load smoothly, minimal/quiet pre-pitch movement from both sides of the plate.  Defensively, threw 71 mph across the diamond from short, loose, ¾ arm slot with accuracy and more in the tank arm strength wise.  Possesses plus fielding actions for the middle infield, with a good feel for when to use full arm, or flip the ball to first base getting rid of it quickly.  Hands are soft, quick footwork, ranges well both up the middle and in the hole, solid body control on run through ball.  Ran a 7.08 60, 4.69 from home to first.  King was the top defensive infielder in attendance, and as he physically matures will only get better as his all-around feel for the game is advanced for his age.
1.19.14 - 5-foot-7, 135-pound, athletic, switch hitting shortstop who projects well. Defensively, he plays through the ball with athletically advanced actions. Showed quality body control on the move. Hands are soft and exchanges are smooth and quick. Arm works short, from ¾ slot at 74 mph with carry and accuracy. Ran a 7.4 60. As a left-handed hitter has a smooth swing with a short, flat path and solid extension. Showed gap-to-gap juice. As a right-handed hitter he has a very similar swing with slightly more polish. Swing is short and flat with quality extension. Exit velocity off a tee as a right handed hitter was 75 mph. as a left-handed hitter it was 69 mph.
