6/17/14 - 6-foot-4, 205-pound prospect has prototypical corner size, hands work and shows good lateral movement, showed an increase in arm strength from previous event at 82 mph across the infield with carry, good body control on slow roller with ability to throw accurately on the move. At the plate, hits from a balanced setup with a short stride, uphill swing path creates some lift, showed pull-side power in hitting a home run to left field in batting practice, showed 89 mph tee exit velocity (95 at previous event), ran 4.85 down the first base line, went 0-for-4 in game play with a strikeout, has definite power potential at the next level.
2/16/14 - 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect with good corner size, has shown increase in strength and speed since last summer, showcased soft hands and solid corner actions with good arm strength at 80 mph across the infield. At the plate, Sims showed good power with backspin carry, slight uphill path generates some lift, drives the ball to the gaps, ran 7.38 60 yard dash, showed big increase in bat speed with 95 mph tee exit velocity, potential high-level corner prospect.
9/7/13 - The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Sims continues to show well defensively with soft hands, good corner actions, and 79 mph arm strength across the infield. He showed bat speed with 87 mph tee exit velocity and stroked a solid single to left field in game action.
7/9/13- 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect with projectable frame, shows good lateral movement, soft hands, good corner actions, loose/athletic arm at 79 mph across the infield. At the plate, hits from a balanced setup, smooth load, good rhythm, and balance, short stride, squares up the baseball routinely, able to spray line drives while also showing some pull power, very solid 2015 corner prospect with potential to be power bat at the next level, ran 7.81 60 yard dash (7.57 at TP Games), 81 mph tee exit velocity.
6/11/13 - 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect, shows 80 mph arm strength across the infield, soft hands, made several nice plays in game play, feet work okay. At the plate, hits from balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, can benefit from more lower half torque in swing, short path to the ball with line drive swing plane, showed the ability to hit to all fields in game play with single to left and to right-center, ran 7.57 60 yard dash, 82 mph tee exit velocity, solid 2015 corner prospect.
8-15-2018: Extra large bodied at six-foot-five, 230 pounds yet agile enough to spend time on the hot corner for Falmouth this summer. Showed limited range, but more than enough arm and adequate hands. Above average arm during I/O, more fringe arm strength with tentative throws in game. On my looks, his accuracy while throwing on the move was superior to when he was stationary with his feet planted (less time to think about the throw). Pull approach at the plate. Wants to get the bat head out. Tied for the Cape lead this summer with eight home runs while batting .252 and a lower strikeout rate for a power hitter at 21%. Ran heavy down the line, 4.68 seconds on grounder to short. Went undrafted this past June as a redshirt sophomore. With the Cape experience in his pocket, look for Sims to have a big season in the OVC this spring and receive Day Two consideration for the 2019 draft. (Seifert)
