An athletic 6-2, 175-pounds frame. Hits from a square set up at the plate with hands at the shoulder. Rock back load with small leg lift and reach with leg to hitting position. Short swing path at the plate with quick hands that get in and out of the zone. Would like to see more extension through contact to finish swings. Gets on front foot at times, causing some balance issues. Clean actions in the outfield with sound hands and exchange. Outfield velo of 75 mph. Also catches, with a 2.28 pop time and position velo of 65 mph. Has some rawness to game with solid foundation.

Pinkney is a raw prospect who can play all over the field. At the plate, he hits from a narrow setup before utilizing a short stride in order to get on time with the pitch. His barrel flies through the zone on a level path. He has some hand speed which means he will continue to add bat speed as he fills out his frame. In the outfield, he has efficient footwork and ability to get behind the ball. His catch and release is solid, and his long arm action gives him some carry on throws despite having a velocity of 75mph.

9.11.16:  Pinkney is 6-0 tall with a lankier athletic frame and ran a 4.39 home to first. Hits from the right side from an athletic stance, smooth back load with a short leg kick stride. Decent lower half and good balance. Short to ball with uphill path through it and decent extension, exit velocity was 73. In the infield, quick feet and soft hands. Three quarters arm slot with a long arm action, position velocity of 71. In the outfield, gets behind the ball well and plays through it with a clean release. High three-quarters arm slot with an outfield velocity of 71.
