6/15/16 - Max FB: 86, FB: 83-86, CB: 71-75
6-foot-2, 190-pound RHP with an athletic frame, arm action is loose and quick, works through a ¾ slot that produces good arm-side run on his fastball, breaking ball is very sharp with 11/5 action, had a tendency to miss out (to RHH’s) with the breaking ball in this outing but it has potential to be a college level swing and miss pitch, allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out two in his two innings of work. Pfaadts frame and quick arm should lend to more velocity development. Would not be surprised at all to see him consistently in the high-80s his senior season.

1/24/16 - Max FB: 85, FB: 83-84, CB: 73-75, CH: 70-75, SL- 74-75
6-foot-1, 185-pound RHP has a strong and athletic frame, arm is quick and athletic and works through a ¾ slot, fastball displayed very good arm-side life and will get on hitters quickly, throws a hard curveball with sharp 11/5 action, and his changeup is solid with good sinking action, also showed a slider with similar velocity as his curveball but more lateral movement. Would not be surprised to see Pfaadt touching the high-80’s this spring. If he does, he will certainly jump into the conversation of top Class of 2017 arms.

Home-1st: 4.88, Position Velocity:  IF-88, Exit Velocity: 88
As a position player, with strong/athletic frame, hits from an open stance and uses a big leg kick and rhythmic hand load, explodes with lower half to generate bat speed through the zone, creates lift at contact and shows power to all fields, consistently squared the baseball in his round of BP. Shows good athleticism at the hot corner with soft hands and fluid lateral movement, gets the ball across the infield with a long high-3/4 release, registered the top infield velocity of the event with carry across the diamond.

2020 DRAFT: Pfaadt took his game to another level last summer in the Cape. He's very athletic and strong at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds with long legs and a loose, live arm. He shows good lines and direction to the plate with a slightly closed landing and throws from a three-quarters slot with good arm speed. His fastball cuts, sinks and rides to the plate. He pumps his four-seam heater at 92-95 mph with a 2450-2540 spin rate and some cut at times. His two-seamer sits in the mid-2200 rpm range at 88-90 mph with some sink. His best offspeed offering is a plus 82-83 mph changeup (2120 rpm) thrown with fastball arm speed. Pfaadt also has a good feel for his 80-83 mph slider/slurve with a mid-2400 spin rate and 8:30 tilt. However, he can get on the side of the ball too often, an effect of rushing his delivery at times. Overall, he shows a very good feel to spin. With improvements to the consistency of his delivery, staying behind the ball and just throwing it harder, his slider could easily be an above average-to-better pitch in the very near future. After a strong Cape season (2-1, 2.81 ERA, 32 IP, 19 H, 8 BB, 34 SO), Pfaadt continued to to pad his resume this spring with a 3-1, 1.38 ERA, 26 IP, 4 BB, 27 SO to start the 2020 season. Including makeup and mound presence, he has all of the necessary ingredients to be considered around the 4th-5th rounds and profiles as a starter at the next level.

8/21/19: After impressing in the Northwoods League last summer, Pfaadt has taken his game to another level in the Cape. He’s very athletic and strong at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds with long legs and a loose, live arm. He showed good lines and direction to the plate, while throwing from a three-quarters slot with good arm speed. His fastball will cut, sink and ride to the plate. He pumped his four-seam heater at 92-95 mph with a 2450-2540 spin rate and some cut at times. His two-seamer sat in the mid-2200 rpm range at 88-90 mph with some sink. Had a good feel for his 80-82 mph slider with a mid-2400 spin rate, but he was just on the side of the ball too often, an effect of rushing his delivery at times. Fringe average pitch on this look, but he showed very good feel to spin. With improvements to the consistency of his delivery, staying behind the ball and just throwing it harder, his slider could easily be an above average-to-better pitch in the very near future. His third pitch on this look was an average 82-83 mph changeup (2120 rpm) which was thrown with fastball arm speed. Normally, the changeup is a better than average pitch for him, but on this look it was not. After a strong Cape season (2-1, 2.81 ERA, 32 IP, 19 H, 8 BB, 34 SO), Pfaadt continues to pad his resume with both good stuff and high performance. He’s one of the top D2 draft-eligible talents for next June and has all of the necessary ingredients to be considered early during Day Two. (Seifert)

7/13/186-foot-3, 215 pounds. Good athletic build, long legs. Live and loose arm from a low three-quarters slot. Quick arm speed, high effort guy with recoil on his follow through. FB had some serious horizontal arm side run to it. Up to 93 mph, sat 89-91. Threw a slurve for a breaking ball. Had a lot of horizontal movement, with sharp bite. Sat at 75-77 mph. Only mixed in a couple changeups at 85 mph. Average pitch. All in all, he has a good arsenal of pitches. CH has room to develop, breaking ball has swing and miss potential and he has good command of a FB with a lot of movement. Threw one inning in relief – faced five batters while allowing two hits, one walk, and no runs. (Jake Stone)

8-1-2018: Perhaps something has clicked for Pfaadt from the spring to the summer. Pfaadt had some interesting numbers in his freshman campaign at Bellarmine, tallying 58 strikeouts and just 15 walks in 47.2 innings of work. However, he also had an ERA north of six. This summer, Pfaadt has punched out 46 and walked just 11 in 30.1 innings, and his ERA has vastly improved — sitting at 2.67 in 19 relief appearances at the NWL. Pfaadt is worth watching because he has a good frame with some upside. Pfaadt stands at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, and sat 90-91 mph with his fastball, while also flashing a slider in the 84-85 mph range (K Rogers)
