VanTrump is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound switch hitting catcher who showed the ability to stick the ball in all parts of the zone and demonstrated good body control while blocking. Offensively, from the right side he has a wide crouch stance and took an uphill bat path to the ball, making consistent contact. As a lefty, VanTrump showed a level, strong swing that produced some barrel whip through the zone driving it to the right side.
