No. 17 Glenbrook South 16, New Trier 5
Glenbrook South (14-3; 6-0) blitzed the Trevians at Duke Childs Stadium in Winnetka. Tufts-bound Tommy O’Hara led the Titan barrage with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI while Villanova-bound Connor Pauly was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.SIU-Edwardsville-bound Mario Tursi chipped in with a 3-for-4 game with two doubles and an RBI. The two clubs will face-off in Glenview on Thursday at 4:45. Yours truly will be at GBS for all of the CSL-South action.
No. 17 Benet Academy 14, No. 5 Joliet Catholic Academy 8
Benet Academy (12-5-1; 3-1) won a slugfest at Gordie Gillespie Stadium in Joliet. The Redwings trailed in this one 7-3 after four innings and then scored 11 times in the next three innings to move past the defending Class 3A state champion Hilltoppers. Senior Joe Boyle was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI to lead the Redwing barrage. Senior Chris Whelan had four singles and four runs scored while junior Connor Hickey chipped in with two singles and two RBI.
Huntley 4, Crystal Lake South 3
Huntley (14-4-1) slipped past the Gators on the South Side of Crystal Lake. Senior RHP Adam Kalish (2-0) allowed no earned runs and three hits in six innings, to pick up the win on the mound while senior RHP Nick Constantino allowed the Gators a hit in his scoreless seventh inning to nail down the save. Senior Tommy Kiriakopoulos had two singles and an RBI to lead the Red Raider attack.
Mascoutah 8, Highland 2
Mascoutah (18-2; 4-0) crushed the Bulldogs behind Colin Renth, who had three doubles and three RBI. Starting and winning pitcher Ryan Netemeyer (6-0) allowed a run and two hits in his stellar six innings of work on the mound. Netemeyer struck out eight and went 2-for-4 with a double and drove home a pair of runs.
