STATEWIDE GAME OF THE DAY
No. 12 Downers Grove South (26-3) defeated No. 2 Mount Carmel (28-4) behind Peter Hamot 6-1. Hamot fired a five-hitter at the Catholic Blue champs. Cory Vondra and Robert Justus led the West Suburban Gold champs attack. Vondra had two hits including a double and drove home two Mustang runs. Justus chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

No. 4 Chatham Glenwood (27-2, 17-0 Central State 8) blanked Lincoln 4-0 behind Nick Maton. Maton (11-0) fired a three-hit shutout at the Railsplitters with 15 punchouts. Sam Anderson singled, tripled and drove in the only run Maton would need.
No. 21 Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin (21-6, 15-2 Central State 8) defeated Jacksonville 8-3 behind Justin Zanger and Patton Minder. Zanger went 3-for-3 with two RBI while Minder chipped in with two singles and two RBI for the Cyclones.
