Our 2017 Season Preview continues today with our preview of the MPSSAA 2A in Maryland. Today we will look back at the 2016 campaign, list players to watch along with top prospects, and rank our best bets to make it through.

2016 Recap
The La Plata Warriors played determined baseball throughout the playoffs en route to the 2A championship coming out of the South Region. La Plata defeated 2015 state champion Southern in the Region championship then moved to the state championship with a 16-1 win over North representative Eastern Tech. In the state championship, La Plata got a gritty performance from Scott Logue and used timely hitting from Tyler Stockwell and Jake Hanks to take a 4-0 lead after three innings and Logue, who started the game on the mound, was able to keep a talented Williamsport team at bay for the game and championship with a 4-1 final.
Williamsport made it through a tough 2A west bracket defeating talented teams Walkersville (Sectional Finals) and Marriotts Ridge (Region Championship) to make it into the state playoffs.They then defeated East Region champions Queen Anne's in the State semifinals.
Eastern Tech made a return trip to the state playoffs after showing an ability to win games through offense and defense. They defeated Sparrows Point 2-0 in the Sectional finals, then defeated Western STES 16-11 in the Region championship before running into La Plata.
The East Division saw Queen Anne's win the region a year after coming up short in the region championship in 2015. Queen Anne's won a hard fought game with Easton for the Sectional championship and defeated Fallston in the Region championship.
