Ten college Players who attended high school in Missouri were selected in the 2012 MLB Draft.

In the fifth round (No. 177 overall), the Los Angeles drafted 6-foot-5, 209-RHP Mark Sappington. Sappington attends Rockhurst University in Kansas City and went to Raymore-Peculiar HS.

Fred Ford from Jefferson College and Ft. Zumwalt South HS was picked by the Kansas City Royals in the seventh round (No. 223 overall).  Ford is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound C/INF.

Pittsburgh Pirates picked Dalton Friend from Jefferson College and Rolla HS in the twelfth round (No. 376 overall). Friend is a 6-foot-3, 230-pound LHP.

In the thirteenth round, Stuart Pudenz was drafted by the Oakland A’s (No. 409 overall). The 6-foot-5, 215-pound RHP Pudenz attends Dallas Baptist and graduated from Blue Springs South HS.

The Arizona Diamondbacks in the eighteenth round (No. 573 overall) drafted Kevin Medrano from Missouri State and Lee’s Summit North. Medrano is a 6-foot, 160-pound infielder.

C Ben Turner was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the twenty-first round. (No. 568 overall). The 6-foot-5, 225-poundTurner attends Mizzou and graduated from Westminster Christian Academy.

In the twenty-second round, the Atlanta Braved drafted Shae Simmons from SEMO. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound RHP attended Scott City HS.

The St. Louis Cardinals drafted 6-foot-3, 210-pound LHP Lee Stoppleman from the University of Central Missouri in the twenty-fourth round (No. 750 overall).  Stoppleman graduated from Pleasant Hill HS.

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted LHP Josh Smith from Wichita State in the twenty-fifth round (No. 766 overall). The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Smith graduated from Pleasant Hill HS. 

The Atlanta Braves selected Trenton Moses is the twenty-sixth round (No. 809 overall). The 6-foot-3, 228-pound third baseman attends SEMO and graduated from Advance HS.

Corey Embree was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the in the thirty-eighth round (No. 1166 overall). The 6-foot-3, 218-pound OF attends Maplewoods CC and graduated from Moberly HS,
