As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

Head Coach Ryan Long and the Frontier Falcons have high expectations heading into the 2014 season. Frontier finished last season with an impressive 26-4 record and were undefeated in conference play at 14-0, earning the Mid-West conference championship. The Falcons season ended with a loss in sectionals to Lafayette Central Catholic, the eventual 1A state champion. Long's team returns six starters along with 4 arms this spring.  Senior Kyle Mikesell, a 2013 All-State catcher, expects to play a key role offensively after hitting .439 with 9 2B and 33 RBI as a Junior.  Fellow senior Brandon Gallinger will also be a key producer at the plate.  As an honorable mention All-State SS last year, Gallinger hit .480 with 48 Runs, 26 RBI, and also swiped 25 bags.  1B Michael Hirt returns after hitting .407 as a sophomore, while now sophomore Tyler Prior comes back after hitting .323 in 2013.  Other players expected to contribute are senior 3B Carson Svoboda and senior OF Austin Byrd.  Look for the Falcons to compete for this year's 1A State title.
